The last entry for this blog is dated about a year ago and today, in the midst of rushing for the dateline, I had the cheek to upload an entry drafted about the same time; and it has been waiting to be posted since then.  And I finally did, later this evening before I left the office.

So many events took place during my absence (in the blogging world) and I don’t plan to put everything in here.  Perhaps I just pick some of the more memorable ones and one of them is my internal battle whether to send Iris to school before the end of this year. It happens 3 months back (about in February 2011).

The pressure originated from my mom who couldn’t stop comparing Iris’ progress with the other kids (in Miri) who are a few months my girl’s junior.  Occasionally over the phone she will ask me if I planned to send Iris to school because so and so’s son is already going; or so and so’s daughter already knows how to write…  And I often brushed her notion with the fact that Iris is doing well “home-schooled with Mickey Mouse”.  Well, she learns a lot from the program and her command in English sometimes amazes us.  Or when mom says that this or that girl can count 1-10 after going to school; I would respond “without attending school, Iris can already count 1-15 just by watching Mickey Mouse, so what is the use of school?”

My negative attitude towards school only suggests that I am not willing to let her go off yet; because I feel she is still very young and I was afraid that she will be bored with school if we sent her too early.   As long as she hasn’t reach 3 years old, I’ll put the matter to rest.  For now, I’ll just let her learn from Mickey, Oso and Little Einsteins.

This is a very much delayed post.  Took place when Iris was 1 year+

My aunt flew in to Kuching mid of last month to attend a course at Hotel Grand Continental.  We agreed to meet up Monday evening after work and Freda joined us for the meeting.  We started the ride at 4pm.  Traffic was OK except for the long queue at Simpang Tiga, otherwise we could have reached the destination 15 minutes earlier.  Along the way, Iris was sometimes behaved very well, several occasions not and more frequently squirming and wanted to come to my side of the wheel.  Thank God Freda guarded her well.

In the hotel, she was excited with her first experience going into a lift.  I can’t remember my aunt’s room but our supposedly short visit didn’t end there.  4yi insisted of going to Parkson and later to McD for Dinner.  I could imagine the hassle of bringing Iris to those places but then again it may be good to let her experience night outings.

To cut the story short, Iris was running around in Parkson, sat on the floor, touched the mannequin and was extra friendly with the pak guard.  Freda was always on her tail, holding on to her hood.  Both of them reminds me of Boo and that blue hairy creature in “Monsters Inc”.

At McD, all the adults washed their hands but none of them remembered to wash the baby’s hands.  It was already too late because the little stomached her first chicken nugget quickly (apparently she was starving).  Crap!  I bet she swallowed all the germs and bacteria together with the yummy nugget.   Thank god she didn’t experience anything unpleasant after that.

Moral of the story: Adults too, make mistakes and tend to be very forgetful when they are short of carbs and sugar.  Hence, bring hand sanitizer at all time!  My fav brand is Protex.   The product smells nice and gentle to the skin.

This entry will be really short because I hate to recall the details.  So why am putting them in words?  Because I think it is hilarious to relate this entry to the earlier one titled “How I Got My Sony HX-1″ because I lost it about half a year after I purchased it! Arrggghhh!!

I went to Singapore for “vacation” with a friend from Uni and after several shots at Orchard Boulevard (amongst others The Shaw Building where P. Ramlee established his fame), we decided to rush back to the hotel to prevent ourselves from being charged extra due to late check out.  To shorten the story, we wasted half an hour trying to figure out which bus to take, or which side of the building we should wait, and after futile attempts, we hopped on cab. I guess I was already too tired and therefore as I hopped out from the cab (didn’t take the receipt! Arrgggghhh!!!), I didn’t realize that my precious was left on the car seat.

I was already at the S’pore – Johore bus terminal at Queen Street when I discovered that it was not inside my backpack. Had to rush back to the hotel, only to be informed that the cab driver actually went back to the hotel, left some details (taxi number and stuff) and expected me to call the Lost and Found Department.  Pretty hopeful, I called the number and was informed that the number provided was incorrect. I guess he decided to keep the camera the moment he wrote his first letter on that piece of paper.

Anyway, I am quite over it now, can’t deny that I was pretty mad at myself but once a while, we can’t help but to act out of carelessness or stupidity. In this case I entitled both, and therefore I am taking my time to look for the replacement.

I hope the cab driver fails to look for its battery charger in Singapore! Arrrghhh!! Bye bye darling Sony. You are my first camera but you are definitely not my last.
